Goal! 3
Genre
It is the third and final installment of the footballing trilogy Goal! being directed by Andrew Morahan.
Synopsis
The story is of three footballers chasing their dreams at the World Cup. Previous instalments have charted the fictional story of a young player's rise to stardom. What sets these films apart from other football films is its use of real match footage to help tell the story and bring it to life. Santiago Munez, played by Kuno Becker, makes his name at Newcastle United FC in the first film and is shot to international stardom in the second. Transferred to Madrid, the UEFA Champions League becomes the stage on which he shines, setting the scene for the final episode which culminates at the FIFA World Cup in Germany 2006.
With the World Cup finals as its dramatic, fast-paced backdrop, Goal 3, now in post-production, is laced with the anecdotal humor of a group of English soccer fans traveling to Germany to watch their heroes pursue an entire nation's dream of lifting the coveted World Cup Trophy.
Filming for Goal! 3 started in June/July of 2006, during the actual 2006 World Cup. The film will feature some of the players from the Mexico squad.
